Comics Cultures

The publication series »Comics Cultures« – edited by icon Düsseldorf – is a space for publications from the context of contemporary comics scholarship. The term »comics« in this instance collects a large variety of narrative graphic texts, from superhero comics to graphic novels, and from bandes dessinées of the Franco-Belgian tradition to Japanese manga. It thereby underlines the inherently interdisciplinary nature of comics scholarship. We see the plural in »Comics Cultures« as a signal and reminder to think comics in international and interdisciplinary contexts. Publications in this series are meant to address comics from large geographic and cultural spectrums.

»Comis Cultures« is meant as a platform for state-of-the-art essay collections but also for monographs such as dissertations. Submissions will be evaluated in a double peer-review process.

Submissions are accepted in German and English. Mixed-language manuscripts and submissions in other languages may be accepted by way of exception.
