The script of the documentary play »Stolpersteine Staatstheater« by Hans-Werner Kroesinger and Regine Dura reconstructs-from personnel files of the Karlsruhe State Theatre-how anti-Semitic discrimination and the dismissal of left-wing and liberal theatre artists worked in detail after 1933. It depicts how Jewish actors, a Jewish prompter, and the artistic director were dismissed, arrested, and driven into exile or suicide in Karlsruhe. These individual artists are not reduced to their victim status but portrayed in dense and concise detail. The play foregrounds the bureaucratic procedures that legally regulated social exclusion and the preparation of the Nazi genocide .
