1. Vergangenheit, was tun?
(Gegen-)Erinnerungen, Musealisierungen und Moralisierungen im kuratorischen Umgang mit dem sozialistischen Erbe in Bukarest
Daniel Habit focuses on memorial discourses in the public space in Bucharest. As the Romanian socialist past and its legacies are still highly discussed, museums in Romania struggle with exhibiting this period. Therefore, counter-memories and -narratives play an important role but are rarely to be found within the official memorial debate. By shifting to these 'un-official' truth projects, the negotiation of the past appears as an ongoing process of curation of the urban space. The socialist regime left numerous architectural traces, which can be re-curated and used as stages for interventions of various art projects and their own moral imaginations.
